Biggest Fantasy Busts: Ray Rice & Marshawn Lynch

This is the first part of my series for Fantasy Busts and Sleepers. With a lot of drafts around the corner, I like to post my thoughts for not only others, but to re-read what I am thinking as well. I love to hold myself accountable and am always happy to discuss/argue my position with anybody who comes accross. I am starting with a couple of busts. A couple of early drafted RB's that I don't think will finish top 10 or top 20 even in Rice's case. I'm starting with these guys because the big miss in the first round could cost a season. Regardless my two big names to stay away are Rice and Lynch.

Okay, okay. For those that know me, I thought Lych would be less than monsterous last season so I was wrong there but he was just about the only one I missed on big last year. I had Martin and Richardson as rookies, both finishing top 10. I didn't have Morris but who did? I had pegged 8 of the top 10 QB's correctly preseason, and hit on most of my WR selections. So coming off a good year, I can't help but be skeptical that the law of averages will bite me this year. And for those who read and actually listen, I warned you!

Let's start with Ray Rice. We all have heard countless amount of times about how Pierce is going to cut into his time. I think that MIGHT be overplayed a bit but it is still a factor. Rice is still young but has a lot of carries in his career so far. The last few years, the Ravens have taken away goal line opportunities from Rice more and more each seaosn. Pierce on the otherhand, is going to seize this opportunity and any others he gets. He was the best Ravens RB in the playoffs last year and don't think the Ravens will over look those big carries. I think Rice is the biggest bust of the year not just because of Pierce, but because he is going to start treading downhill as he gets older. I think Rice ruins some fantasy teams this year.

I have Lynch as a bust as well, but not a complete bust. Most have him as a top 5 RB. I can see him in that 15-20 range. His scoring won't disappear like Ray Rice's, but I think you see a lot of Harvin in the endzone, and I sense Lynch is going to miss some time at some point this year. The body can only take so much and the Seahawks, although doing an okay job with Turbin mixing it up, will ask less of their beast this year and although he can help your team, stay away with a first round pick. I think his season starts slow so let somebody else overpay, then scoop him up a month or two in when his value is low.

My series will continue in no particular order but will include the biggest busts at each posotion. Some moderate busts, meaning mid round picks likely to flail and of course the sleppers! Make sure to read my entire posts because like you saw in this one, there are different degrees of busts. Rice won't help you win this year. Lycnh can help you win at the right price. You have been warned!
